2017
Inspired by recent geopolitical events, I photographed a globe that has been in my family since the 1960s. I added pigment to the photo and configured a print with a spiral. The presence of the spiral in the print reminds me of my responsibility to care for the Earth. Investigation of relations between two global figures, Putin and Trump, seems to be repeatedly sidetracked by other issues surfacing in the media stream. The actions of the two figures have a great impact on the planet, and this print prominently displays the Arctic region. Though I have never traveled in the Arctic, I have great respect for the expanses of polar ice, and the effects of changing ocean temperatures. Regardless of chaotic circumstances in the world, I make an effort to experience a very personal internal stability, and to align with my individual need to care for the Earth.
